Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

Production used script

An original script used in the production of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, the 1971 picture starring Gene Wilder under the direction of Mel Stuart.

This original production used script was issued to construction manager Hendrik G. Wynands who worked closely with art director Harper Goff during the production. The script comprises of 118 pages bound within front and rear covers of brown card with the front typewritten with the original title of the movie 'CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY' and Wolper Pictures credit, this is hand inscribed to the top 'H. G. WYNANDS' and has been later inscribed by Wynands stating that this is an uncompleted first draft script however we believe this recollection to be incorrect with this actually being a third draft script dating to July 1970, this draft still featuring several sequences differing from the final cut. The script has had a number of pages removed by Wynands for use at the time of production, approximately 40, likely relating to the construction of props and sets for which he was responsible.

The script remains in good production used condition exhibiting cover wear and toning to the interior pages, one removed page subsequently re taped in place and now loosened, in good vintage condition throughout. Obtained by The Prop Gallery directly from construction manager Hendrik G. Wynands.

An extremely rare example of original production material from this highly regarded classic.
