Doctor Who

An original costume piece used in the production of the long running BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who.

From the 1983 serial Arc of Infinity starring Peter Davison as The Doctor this is one of the original arms which formed part of the costume worn on screen by Malcolm Harvey as The Ergon creature created by Omega. The main structure of the arm is constructed from fibreglass lined with material to cover the actors elbow allowing freedom of movement with a hand of latex which is textured and painted to give an alien look, the upper arm sections features an affixed strap where the arm could be joined to the shoulder section of the costume. To the interior the arm has been lined with foam padding and fitted with a metal frame to support it and keep it in a fixed position, these minor modifications were made for use in exhibition with the original elements of the piece remaining uncompromised.

The arm measures approximately 22" from arm to elbow and 15" from elbow to shoulder, it remains in good condition with some hardening and minor splitting to the extremities of the creatures hand.
