Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer) prosthetic ear mould
An original mould used in the production of Blade Runner, the 1982 science fiction classic starring Harrison Ford under the direction of Ridley Scott.
This mould was created during the production by Academy Award winning make-up effects designer Michael Westmore as he designed and created the prosthetic ear worn by Rutger Hauer as Roy Batty. Such as ear was worn by Hauer following the scene where he breaks the fingers of Deckard (Harrison Ford) and he doesn't shoot straight enough in retaliation clipping Batty's ear, this injury is clearly visible for the remainder of the movie including during the iconic Tears in Rain monologue.
The two part mould is constructed from plaster and features locators ensuring it sits correctly, the prosthetics worn on screen by Hauer would have been pulled from this very mould. The piece is inscribed in Westmore's hand 'BLADE RUNNER', 'TOP NEW EAR' and dated 5/81 which was during principal photography.
The mould measures approximatly 5.5" x 3.5" x 2" and remains in good production used condition with some chipping and hairlines from age and handling.
A unique and interesting artefact from one of the all time classics of the science fiction genre.
