Rescue craft filming miniature

Sold

Description

An original filming miniature used on screen in Moon, the acclaimed 2009 science fiction drama directed by Duncan Jones and starring Sam Rockwell.

This is the original rescue craft filming miniature sent to the moon near to the climax of the movie. Director Duncan Jones worked closely with a skilled model effects team headed up by veteran model maker Bill Pearson at Shepperton Studios to create these effects and this large miniature is the only one made for the movie.

The model was constructed by Bill Pearson and John Lee from various materials consisting largely of plastic sections dressed with kit parts, the ship stands on ten landing legs supporting the main body of the craft, a girder arrangement with tanks flanking the main hull of the craft with rocket like thrusters to the rear and cab area to the front which was lit on set. The rear of the model features a hollow box section where a pole could be insterted for filming requirements.

This impressively detailed and complex miniature measures an incredible 26" long, 17" wide and 12" high and remains in excellent production used condition.

With very few filming miniatures produced for the movie this represents a significant artefact from the production, an incredible display spectacle and a testament to the quality of the model effects work on this already cult science fiction masterpiece.

Please note due to the large scale and delicate nature of this miniature special shipping arrangements will apply.
