Description

An original script used in the production of The Andromeda Strain, the 1971 science fiction thriller directed by Robert Wise and based on the novel by Michael Crichton.

This original production used script is dated September 5, 1969 and comprises as 189 pages bound between front and rear covers of blue card with the front hand inscribed in fountain pen with the title of the movie. A preface to the document defines a cinescript as "an amplified screenplay which uses the written page in a cinematic way to convey the total look of the film.....incorporating illustrations, diagrams, computerized animations, "schema" technique....and runs longer than a normal screenplay which more closely approximates what the reader will see on the screen". Various diagrams and animation drawings present throughout many referencing the ground breaking visual effects created by Douglas Trumbull, a four page appendix to the rear describes in detail the "schema" technique.

The script remains in very good vintage production used condition with edge wear to the front and rear covers from use and handling, smudging to hand inscribed cover title, interior excellent with edge toning.

An exceptionally interesting example of original production material from this cult science fiction classic.
