Porthos (Frank Finlay) doublet
An original costume used in the production of The Return of the Musketeers, the 1989 picture directed by Richard Lester and loosely based on the Alexandre Dumas novel Twenty Years After.
This costume was custom made for the production by leading industry costumiers Bermans and Nathans and worn on screen by Frank Finlay as Porthos. The doublet is intricately constructed with patterned embroidery and gilt detailing retaining two of the original decorative buttons, this can be screen matched to the one worn by Finlay in multiple scenes of the movie.
The wardrobe remains in very good vintage screen used condition with some pulling to the embroidery in places but no serious flaws.
A very rare example of principal character wardrobe from from the Richard Lester Musketeers series.
