Description

An original script used in the production of the long running BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who.

From the 1964 season one serial The Keys of Marinus starring William Hartnell as The Doctor this original production used script for episode four The Snows of Terror comprises of 46 pin bound pages printed on cream paper red lined to the bottom. The front cover is hand inscribed 'PETER STENSON' who portrayed multiple characters in the serial including a Voord and judge, further notes are present listing the cast, these hand inscribed in pencil presumably in Stenson's hand. The script features a memo stapled to the top corner which is type written on BBC headed paper with the address of Television Centre, Wood Lane, this dated 31st March 1964 and signed in an unknown hand, this is not a feature seen on any scripts of the period previously handled by The Prop Gallery.

The script is printed on foolscap paper measuring approximately 13" x 8", the standard imperial paper size before A4 as we know it today. The script remains in exceptional condition for the vintage with only minor edge wear and toning, minor crease present to memo, pin original, overall very fine.

The rarity of original production material from the William Hartnell era cannot be overstated and this represents an extraordinarily rare artefact from the very first season of this classic science fiction series.
