Back to the Future Part II is the second instalment in the popular science-fiction adventure comedy trilogy directed by Robert Zemeckis. Starring Michael J. Fox as student Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown, an eccentric scientist responsible for the invention of the DeLorean time machine in which they travel in time. In this second instalment the duo travel to 2015 in an attempt to stop Marty's future son going to prison, this yields disastrous results when Biff Tannen steals the DeLorean time machine and travels back to 1955 with a sports almanac making his younger self wealthy and successful.
The movie macguffin is the Greys Sports Almanac purchased by Marty in 2015 which is given to Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson) by his older self who steals the DeLorean to travel back in time drastically altering the history of Hill Valley and making Biff wealthy and successful. A memorable element of the movie is the Oh LaLa magazine belonging to Biff in 1955 and used alongside the almanac as Biff swaps the dust covers of the two magazines at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance to conceal the futuristic almanac he is really reading. When Marty finally catches up with what he thinks is the almanac after it is confiscated by Mr Strickland (James Tolkan) it is in reality Biff's Oh LaLa magazine with only the dust jacket of the sports almanac.
The Oh LaLa is a fictional publication created by the production for use as Biff's dirty magazine and contains images of lingerie models which were originally published in the real life 1935 French publication Paris Sex Appeal with the cover featuring an image of Venetia Stevenson from a 1955 edition of the pornographic magazine Swank. The example displayed here today is an original created by the production for use during filming and comprises of sixteen pages with various images and French text, it represents an instantly recognisable artefact from one of the most popular franchises in cinematic history.
