Miniature igloo - Back in the Red Part 3

Sold

Description

An original miniature used in the production of the BBC science fiction comedy series Red Dwarf.

This miniature igloo can be seen used in the Series VIII episode Back in the Red Part 3 during the memorable sequence where the crew appear in claymation for a brief stop motion animation sequence in which Lister is eaten by a shark. This igloo miniature was built by Mattes and Miniatures visual effects at Bray Studios, it is sculpted in high density foam which appears to have been coated in something and then painted to a white finish. It is believed two scales of igloo were built for the scene with this being the one used in the longer shot as Cat slides towards it and a second prop used for the scene where Cat sticks his head out owing to the size of the puppet.

The igloo measures approximately 8" long, 5.5" wide and stands 4.5" tall, it remains in excellent screen used condition with some minor wear to the paint finish.

A displayable miniature from a memorable scene of this cult television series.
