Description

An original artwork from the production of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, the 1971 picture starring Gene Wilder under the direction of Mel Stuart.

This hand drawn concept artwork is accomplished in crayon on artists board and depicts Charlie in the chocolate room in silhouette. The rear of the board is stamped with an Austrian address and is hand inscribed 'WONKA, HARPER GOFF, ART DEPT, CHARLIE CHOCOLATE ROOM, 1971'. The artwork has been taped in to a frame and according to construction manager Hendrik Wynands this was for the purpose of including them in Willy Wonka's (Gene Wilder) office, an idea which was ultimately scrapped. Obtained by The Prop Gallery directly from Wynands.

The piece measures approximately 8.5" x 8.5" and remains in excellent vintage condition with some minor surface wear, tape to verso dried out in areas otherwise fine.

A rare and highly displayable artefact from this highly regarded classic.
