Doctor Who

An original costume used in the production of the long running BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who.

From the 1978 serial The Invasion of Time starring Tom Baker as The Doctor this is an original cloak as worn by the Gallifreyan outsiders. Constructed for the serial by the BBC Wardrobe Department the large floor length cloak is constructed from wool and is dressed with various differing pelts of faux animal fur and beads with a leather tie to the collar. This features an original BBC wardrobe label to the interior hand inscribed 'FUT451' and can be conclusively screen matched, these were subsequently reused in the 1989 serial Survival starring Sylvester McCoy as The Doctor as horse blankets by the Cheetah People, accompanied by an original BBC Resources wardrobe bag.

The cloak remains in excellent vintage screen used condition throughout.

A fine example of custom wardrobe from the Tom Baker era of this cult science fiction series.
