Life on Mars (TV)

An original number plate used in the production of the hit television drama series Life on Mars starring John Simm and Philip Glenister.

This number plate was used on the front of the Ford Cortina owned by Gene Hunt (Phillip Glenister) and used throughout the series. This vintage style number plate has the number KJM 212K denoting that it was registered in 1971/72 with the series being set in 1973, custom fabricated for the production from metal in the correct period style with the black overlaid on to the plate it features two holes where it was attached to the vehicle during filming.

The plate measures approximately 20.5" x 4.5" and remains in good condition with obvious scratching and wear from production use, indeed this plate actually came off the car during filming and shows signs of this including some bending to the metal on the bottom and the black overlay loose around the hole next to the number 2. The plate is inscribed to the verso 'CORTINA, L.O.M'

A fine and notable artefact from this very well received and multi award winning series.
