Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

Brian Johnson personal Boba Fett concept

Sold

Description

An original concept design used in the production of the 1980 science fiction picture The Empire Strikes Back, the second instalment of the classic Star Wars franchise directed by Irvin Kershner.

This was issued to visual effects artist Brian Johnson and is a production made copy of the original concept artwork for Boba Fett drawn by visual effects art director Joe Johnston, a prolific designer of many elements within the Star Wars universe. This concept features Boba Fett with some notes regarding his helmet dent, belt and cape, dated 6/78 and signed Johnston.

This copy was issued to Brian Johnson, part of the team which went on to win a Special Achievement Academy Award for the visual effects on this picture. This was issued by production secretary Patricia Blau who stated that this advance copy was issued to Brian until production coordinator Miki Herman could forward copies in plastic sleeves to add to the bible.

This rare concept measures lager than A4 at 11" x 8.5 and remains in excellent condition having been carefully stored with only minor pinholes to the top left corner and light edge wear, very fine.

A fine production artefact from one of the most influential and highly regarded franchises in cinematic history.
