Spaceship filming miniature - Aftermath

Description

An original miniature used in the production of the BBC science fiction television series Blake's 7.

From the Series Three episode Aftermath which first aired in January 1980 this spaceship filming miniature can be seen approaching and docking with the Liberator as Tarrant (Steven Pacey) is introduced to the series.

This unique miniature was built by the BBC Visual Effects Department and is constructed largely from perspex and wood with plastic detailing and heavily weathered yellow paint finish, it features a see through cockpit which contains controls and a small figure and to the underside is a threaded mounting point which would have been used to support the miniature during filming. When the craft is seen docking with the Liberator the miniature can be easily screen matched by the various detailing and heavy weathering, in this shot the mounting rig is not present revealing that this close up was filmed before the approach shot where the miniature would have required mounting from the underside at which point the plate was added.

The miniature measures a very impressive 19" long with a 20" wingspan, it remains in excellent screen used condition lacking some minor detailing and the tip of the right wing with edge and paint wear consistent with production use and age.

An extraordinarily rare opportunity to acquire an original screen used filming miniature from this cult science fiction series, the rarity of which cannot be overstated.
