Full Metal Jacket

USMC footlocker

Sold

Description

An original prop used in the production of Full Metal Jacket, the 1987 war picture directed by Stanley Kubrick.

This is an original footlocker as seen used by the recruits in various scenes of the picture, most memorably where Sergeant Hartman (Lee Ermey) discovers a jelly doughnut in the one belonging to Private Pyle (Vincent D'Onofrio). The footlocker is constructed from plywood which is painted dark green with stencilled lighter green detail to the front and 'U.S.M.C' in black lettering to both ends, the number to the front right side is consistent with Pyle's locker, other notable character lockers can be seen to feature differing numbers. A hinged top reveals two wooden bars to the interior designed to support a tray which is no longer present.

The footlocker measures approximately 30" x 15" x 11.5" and remains in good vintage condition exhibiting some edge, surface and paint wear with corrosion to the metal hardware.

A displayable artefact and superb talking point from the production of this highly regarded war picture.
