The Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) special effects fist

Sold

Description

An original prop used in the production of the 1984 science fiction action classic The Terminator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger under the direction of James Cameron.

This fist was created by Stan Winston Studios for the scene where The Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) purses Sarah Conner (Linda Hamilton) and Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) after they flee the Tech Noir nightclub and The Terminator punches the windscreen of the car they are trying to escape in. To achieve this shot a fist was placed on a mechanical rig to double for Arnold's hand as it punches through the glass, the fist is cast in solid plaster around a steel bar and is finished with painted latex to imitate skin making a heavy and durable prop with which the screen could be smashed. The final four images show the team preparing the rig alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger behind the scenes during the production.

The fist remains in generally excellent condition having undergone minor stabilisation work with some evidence of shrinking to the latex at the bottom of the prop, the steel bar has also been cut to a more manageable length having been considerably longer during the production in order to secure it to the rig.

This represents an incredibly rare and displayable special effects artefact from this critically acclaimed blockbuster.
