Description

An original prop used in the production of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, the 1991 science fiction action blockbuster and the second instalment in the popular Terminator franchise.

Chest appliances such as this were worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator in the climactic sequences of the movie where he has sustained significant damage partially revealing the endoskeleton, notably as he does battle with the T-1000 (Robert Patrick) at the steel mill.

The chest was custom made for the production by noted effects company Stan Winston Studios and features a dense solid rubber centre section painted to resemble the endoskeleton surrounded with bloodied and torn flesh constructed from foam latex which is painted and dressed with studio blood. The appliance is backed with material to which an elasticated harness is attached, this used to secure the piece to the actor during filming.

The chest measures approximately 15" x 12" at its widest points and remains in very good production used condition with the foam latex to the extremities having hardened and become brittle in areas, notably to the top and bottom, and lacking some minor parts. The solid rubber centre section remains near perfect while much of the remainder of the skin remains soft to the touch.

A highly displayable principal character artefact from the production of this action blockbuster which saw Stan Winston and Jeff Dawn receive the Academy Award for Best Makeup.
