Doctor Who

An original costume used in the production of the long running BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who.

This costume was worn on screen by Martin Jarvis as The Governor in the 1985 serial Vengance on Varos starring Colin Baker as The Doctor. The two piece costume was bespoke made for the production by costumiers Dennis and Shirley Fitzgerald and is constructed from grey leather with black highlights and features badge emblems to the cuffs and epaulettes on the double breasted style jacket. Both the jacket and trousers feature Dennis and Shirley Fitzgerald labels which are hand inscribed 'DR WHO' and 'MARTIN JARVIS' in pen with the trousers being complete with the original braces worn by Jarvis during the production.

The costume remains in excellent production used condition throughout with one of the press stud fastenings missing to the left epaulette, otherwise very fine.

An excellent example of principal character costume from this classic science fiction series.
