Description

An original script binder used in the production of The Day After, the 1983 post-apocalyptic American television film directed by Nicholas Meyer.

This was the personal script binder of Steven-Charles Jaffe who served as second unit director on this picture before going on to produce Ghost and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Comprising of thick green hard board material covered binder inscribed the the front 'SC JAFFE' and 'THE DAY AFTER' to the spine, further inscribed 'STEVEN C JAFFE' to the interior and containing a 202 page complete second draft script dated May 7, 1982 with revisions as late as July 1982. The binder was used heavily on the production serving as Jaffe's bible and contains extensive annotations in Jaffe's hand with large amounts of script highlighted with various amendments throughout and several photographic reductions used by Jaffe for reference.

The binder and script within remain in very good condition exhibiting some wear from its heavy used during production and evidence of some damp to the leading edges, mostly to the binder but with some pages lightly compromised at the front and rear of the script, otherwise fine.

An extremely rare and impressive example of heavily used production material from this highly rated picture which was watched by over 100 million people on its initial broadcast remaining the highest rated television film in history.
