Description

An original costume used in the production of Space: 1999, the cult science fiction television series produced by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson.

This original costume comprises of a female white sleeved medical section tunic and matching skirt, constructed from wool with the sleeve and collar of silk the tunic is hand inscribed with sizing information to the interior seam with the skirt featuring a label hand inscribed 'CAROLYN SEYMOUR' who portrayed Eva in The Seance Spectre.

Interestingly the tunic is of different construction to the standard examples with the zip on the back rather than the left arm and features two lines across the chest, the costume worn by Barbara Bain as Dr. Helena Russell throughout Year 2 features a different left sleeve but does have the zip to the back rather than the left arm which is believed to have been made in such a manner at her request. The tunic offered here features a white collar which is consistent with the one worn by Bain in the final two episodes of the series, as are the two white lines across the chest, given that this example also features the zip to the back it seems extremely likely that this tunic was created for Barbra Bain.

The costume remains in excellent condition throughout, extremely fine with no holes, rare with these costumes which are particularly susceptible to moth holes.

A rare example of original wardrobe from this highly regarded Gerry Anderson production.
