Smith (Sean Pertwee) stunt spacesuit
An original spacesuit used in the production of the 1997 science fiction horror Event Horizon.
This complex spacesuit was visioned by noted designer John Mollo of Star Wars fame and constructed for the movie by special effects company FBFX. Highly detailed in every aspect the two piece suit features zip fastenings at the waist and heavy padding to the interior with custom made metal cuffs, this particular suit was created for the character Smith and used by Paul Jennings who was the stunt double for Sean Pertwee, it features the SMITH name patch to the right arm in addition to the Lewis and Clark search and rescue patch and an EU style flag patch to the upper left arm. This is accompanied by the original front and rear packs constructed from foam rubber complete with the collar section on which the helmet would locate, the pack features various details constructed of resin and various straps used to secure it to the actor. The rear pack feature name and number stickers which could be changed depending on which character was to use it thus minimising the number needing to be built, currently sporting 'SMITH' stickers from its last use during the production. The costume is accompanied by an original belt which is a modified weightlifting belt, gloves which are essentially production altered motorcycle gloves and two utility pouches, one for the leg and one for the upper arm, these are hand inscribed to the rear 'STARCK DOUBLE' having been used for Joley Richardson's character during the production.
The spacesuit remains in generally good production used condition with some damage to the pack which is now separated in to two pieces, the straps appearing to have been severed, both the front and rear packs also lacking some details and exhibiting some significant paint wear, gloves belt and utility packs remain fine with light wear.
An impressive ensemble and a fine example of principal character costume from this regarded science fiction horror.
