Description

An original puppet used in the production of James and the Giant Peach, the 1996 fantasy picture produced by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick who had previously collaborated on The Nightmare Before Christmas.

This is one of the original stop motion animation seagull puppets custom made by the production and used in the scene where James and his friends use the flock of seagulls to help them escape from the mechanical shark. The main body of the puppet is constructed from foam latex with a beak of resin and features wings constructed from plasticard or similar around a metal armature wire allowing them to be posed in various positions during the stop motion photography, the puppet is hand painted in a white and grey finish with an orange beak.

The puppet has a wingspan of approximately 10" and remains in excellent production used condition with some minor hardening to the main foam body which remains extremely stable, lacking one eye, otherwise fine.

A highly displayable artefact from this well received stop motion picture.
