Puppet scale FAB 1 light switches

Sold

Description

An original prop used in the production of Thunderbirds, the pioneering television series of the 1960's created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson.

FAB 1 is the six wheeled Rolls-Royce owned by International Rescue agent Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward and chauffeured by Parker. Designed by visual effects legend Derek Meddings the car was built in various scales to fulfil filming requirements with these parts being used on the puppet scale FAB 1 filming miniature which was the largest model produced for filming measuring approximately 8' in length. The prop was subsequently reused in the 1966 feature film Thunderbirds Are Go!

These switches and boxes were part of the puppet scale FAB 1 miniature and were used to control the lights on the vehicle and house the batteries which powered them. The boxes are constructed from plywood with a hardboard fascia which contains three switches used to control the various lights on the miniature, these are labelled below on a piece of applied tape which is hand inscribed in pen. The boxes and switch fascia are painted in the instantly recognisable FAB 1 colour and a multitude of the original wiring remains.

Each of the boxes measure approximately 5" x 5" x 3" and they remain in good vintage condition with a piece of the hardboard fascia detached but present

An incredibly rare artefact from this classic television series and a rare element of the now iconic FAB 1 vehicle.
