Production used clapperboard

Description

An original clapperboard used in the production of the 1982 supernatural horror picture Poltergeist produced by Steven Spielberg.

This production used clapperboard is of traditional wooden construction with an affixed wooden clap stick, one side being laminated creating an unusual board which has one slate side and one plastic like side. The clapperboard carries the movie title 'POLTERGEIST - 1958' in stick on black lettering, the 1958 likely referring to events reported in that year on which the film is partly based. The board also carries the names of director Tobe Hooper and director of photography Matthew F. Leonetti as camera in the same applied stickers while retaining the date, 7-31-81, and some writing in marker pen from its final use during the production. The slate side of the clapperboard features painted lines and writing and remains blank with some chalk residue.

The clapperboard remains in excellent production used condition with some minor wear and lacking some of the stickered letting to Hooper's and Leonetti's names. This board originates from the family of Heather O'Rourke who was gifted it after production wrapped.

A fine example of the iconic clapperboard used in the production of this highly regarded Spielberg production.
