Doctor Who

Oxygen mask - Fury from the Deep

Sold

Description

An original prop used in the production of the long running BBC television series Doctor Who.

From the missing 1968 serial Fury from the Deep prop oxygen masks such as this can be seen worn by various characters including The Doctor (Patrick Troughton) and Jamie McCrimmon (Frazer Hines) as they venture down the impeller shaft. Created by BBC Visual Effects assistant Peter Day the oxygen mask is constructed from a pair standard goggles and a rubber respirator which have been riveted together and an additional elasticated strap added, the mask features hand made oxygen bottles of turned wood which are hand painted and detailed with stickers created using a label maker.

The oxygen mask measures approximately 7" x 7" and remains in excellent vintage condition with some minor age related wear and minor paint loss to the oxygen bottles, overall fine.

This represents a highly displayable and exceptionally rare artefact from the Patrick Troughton era of this cult science fiction series.
