Doctor Who

Omega (Ian Collier) special effects head - Arc of Infinity

Sold

Description

An original Omega head used in the production of the long running BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who.

This head was used on screen in the 1983 serial Arc of Infinity starring Peter Davison as The Doctor and was created by Richard Gregory of Imagineering for the special effects sequence where Omega (Ian Collier) decays in episode 4. This two part head piece is constructed from rubber and is hand painted to resemble the hero head, both the under skull and the cranium section of the head feature integral pipes which were used to pump gloop through he head during filming, small holes in the mask allowed this to seep through creating the effect we see on screen.

Despite being over 30 years old the head piece remains in stunning condition throughout and is still soft and pliable, the only minor hardening being to the ball on the top of the head which has become detached from the top section. The head when correctly mounted on a head form stands approximately 20" high and measures approximately 13" wide.

This represents a significant and desirable special effects costume artefact from this cult science fiction series.
