Martian puppet head
An original puppet head used in the production of Mars Attacks!, the 1996 science fiction picture directed by Tim Burton.
This is one of the original Martian puppet heads fabricated by specialists Mackinnon & Saunders when the production intended to use traditional stop motion animation techniques, following tests with the puppets this was replaced with computer generated imagery based on the puppets already created with some of them being used for reference. The puppet head is constructed from foam over a complex fully working internal metal armature and features metal eye sockets with an airbrushed paint finish of extraordinary quality.
The puppet head measures approximately 4" x 2.75" x 2.75" and remains in very good production used condition, supple to the touch with minor hardening and foam loss only to the extremities, lacking eyeballs which were likely repurposed, otherwise fine.
An instantly recognisable and highly displayable artefact from the production of this cult picture.
