Description

An original costume used in the production of the 1977 James Bond picture The Spy Who Loved Me starring Roger Moore as the suave spy.

This is an original naval jacket front section bespoke made by leading industry costumiers Bermans and Nathans for use by Roger Moore as James Bond. It is believed to have been created for use in the scene where Bond and Anya Amasova (Barbara Bach) arrive on the submarine having been lowered from a helicopter, in this scene Bond is wearing his military jacket and it is believed that this was created to be worn under the flight suit where only the lapels of the jacket would be visible rather than wearing the full costume. It is unknown if this front section was ultimately worn by Moore in these scenes but we believe it was created by Bermans and Nathans for this purpose.

The jacket front section consists of the majority of the chest area of a jacket which ends at the shoulders with an incomplete back, it features two military style gold buttons which are identical to those used on the full jacket worn on screen by Moore. The costume is lined to the interior and features a period Bermans and Nathans label which is type written 'ROGER MOORE, JAMES BOND' with the production number '11523' and the movie title 'THE SPY WHO LOVED ME'.

The costume measures approximatly 19" x 17" when laid flat and remains in excellent condition throughout, very fine.

A rare example of principal character wardrobe from one of the most celebrated franchises in cinematic history.
