Description

These booklets were presented to staff at Industrial Light & Magic from Lucasfilm in recognition of ILM's 10th anniversary and their 8th Academy Award nomination for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1985.

Industrial Light & Magic was started in 1975 when a small group of artists were assembled to create visual effects for a little known film called Star Wars directed by George Lucas. ILM quickly grew, employing some of the most talented individuals in their respective fields and revolutionising many ground breaking techniques. Some 10 years later in 1985 the success of ILM was unrivalled, with five Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects already in the bag they went on to become the worlds premier visual effects company dominating the industry. They have created effects for some of the most successful and highly regarded pictures ever made winning a total of 15 Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects, more than any other single effects company.

These booklets were given out staff at ILM congratulating them on their 10th anniversary and for receiving their 8th Best Visual Effects Academy Award nomination for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom which they later won. The A4 semi gloss printed booklet opens to feature a large image of the iconic Millennium Falcon from their first feature; Star Wars, and imagery from every other film they created Academy Award nominated effects on including Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T, Empire Strikes Back, Dragonslayer, Poltergeist and Return of the Jedi. The rear of the booklet contains some quotes from well known industry professionals including Steven Spielberg who adds "What ILM really means is 'I Love Movies.'" and lists their upcoming films for 1985 including Cocoon which went on to win the 1985 Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.

The booklet remains in excellent condition with only very minor creasing and surface wear, very fine.

A rare and interesting offering relating to arguably the most important visual effects company in the history of the motion picture.
