Doctor Who

Hero light up control bracelet - The Visitation

Sold

Description

An original control bracelet used in the production of the long running BBC television series Doctor Who.

From the 1982 serial The Visitation starring Peter Davison as The Doctor in which the Terileptils attempt to wipe out life on 17th century Earth with an enhanced strain of the great plague culminating in the Great Fire of London. These control bracelets are clearly worn on screen throughout the story by companion Tegan (Janet Fielding), Richard Mace (Michael Robbins) and a number of villagers under Terileptil control.

Two versions of this prop were produced by Peter Wragg's visual effects team specifically for this story, this is the hero light up version used for close up shots where the bracelets are seen to flash on screen. Constructed in molded resin housing an internal light which is attached to an aluminum bracelet with a long wire which would have gone up the sleeve of the actor to connect to a relay in order to achieve the flashing effect. The resin body of the bracelet houses a hand turned aluminum power pack which serves as a conductor for the light which is disabled when the pack is removed.

The intricately made and displayable prop measures approximately 3.5" at its widest point and remains in fine screen used condition. When connected to a 9V power supply the prop remains in working order.

A beautiful example of a hero prop from one of the most highly regarded serials of the period and a testament to the level of talent within the BBC visual effects department.

Please note the mannequin hand is not included.
