Golos tower miniature - The Exiles
An original miniature used in the production of Space: 1999 the cult science fiction television series produced by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson.
This miniature tower was used on the surface of the planet Golos in the Year Two episode The Exiles and was built by noted model maker Martin Bower who was responsible for the creation of many of the miniatures used in the series. Constructed from various materials with the main head made from a number of 1/35 scale Tamiya Schwerer Panzerspahwagen model kits and the pods from EMA plastic, the stem of the prop is made from metal and EMA plastic tubing. The miniature is heavily detailed with various kit parts and stands on a base of MDF. One of the pods is a reproduction which has been faithfully recreated to exacting specifications.
The tower stands an impressive 23" high with the base measuring approximately 17" wide. The miniature remains in generally excellent screen used condition lacking only minor kit detailing in areas.
A rare and highly displayable example of an original model miniature from classic science fiction series which remains highly regarded for its visual effects.
