Blake's 7

An original Federation Guard helmet used in the production of the BBC science fiction television series Blake's 7.

This is an original Federation Guard helmet created for Series 4, constructed over a motorcycle helmet of the period it features a band of green perspex with a further outer band of clear textured perspex which have been bolted to the sides and rear of the helmet. To the interior is some foam padding and the helmets original British Standards sticker which dates it to January 1981, just before the production of Series 4. After its use in Blake's 7 this helmet and several others were repurposed for use in the 1984 Doctor Who serial Frontios which is where the insignia to the middle of the front band was added, this being stencilled on to the outer band in red and black paint. the only other modification would appear to be the removal of the face plate and interestingly the remains of this are still present underneath the inner green band to which a visor of black perspex has been added.

The helmet measures approximately 13.5" x 11" at its widest points and stands approximatly 9" high, it remains in generally excellent screen used condition with some minor paint wear and rusting to the bolts, overall fine.
