An original filming miniature used during the production of Moon, the acclaimed 2009 science fiction drama directed by Duncan Jones and starring Sam Rockwell.

This is the original communication tower model miniature used during the production of the movie. Director Duncan Jones worked closely with a skilled model effects team headed up by veteran model maker Bill Pearson at Shepperton Studios to create the miniature effects. This communications tower, a focal point of the Sarang base, was designed and built by model shop supervisor Steve Howarth and represents the only one built for the production. Constructed mostly from PVC sheeting the intricately detailed miniature features a large movable dish to the top of the with a multitude of other detailing made up largely by plastic kit parts giving a very industrial feel. The miniature is exquisitely finished in grey paint with orange highlights and features a 'LUNAR INDUSTRIES' decal in addition to various panel line detailing and paint weathering to provide the look you would expect of a moon based structure.

The miniature measures a very impressive 17" x 14.5" and stands over 21" at its highest point, it remains in excellent screen used condition with only light wear from on set use. The final images show the miniature on set and under construction at Shepperton Studios during the production.

With very few filming miniatures produced for the movie this represents a highly significant artefact, an incredible display spectacle and a testament to the quality of the model effects work on this already cult science fiction masterpiece.
