Pea pod candy
An original prop used in the production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the 2005 film adaptation of the famous Roald Dahl book starring Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka under the direction of Tim Burton.
Pea pod candy such as this was used to dress the set of The Chocolate Room in Wonka's (Johnny Depp) factory and can be seen being harvested by the Oompa Loompa near the chocolate river. Constructed from dense textured rubber which is hinged with adhesive to one side the partially open pea pod features a hand painted two tone finish in green and yellow. To one end of the prop is a small metal armature cable running in to the pod, this being the remains of the stalk used to secure it to the tree during production.
The pod measures an impressive 16" in length and remains in excellent production used condition with some minor splitting where the two halves are hinged, overall fine.
A vibrant and highly displayable artefact from this well received adaptation.
