Description

An original costume used in the production of Tim Burton's 1989 superhero blockbuster Batman starring Michael Keaton as the caped crusader opposite Jack Nicholson in his unforgettable portrayal of The Joker.

This is the original suit worn on screen by Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne in the memorable scene in Vicki Vale's (Kim Basinger) apartment where The Joker (Jack Nicholson) delivers his famous "Ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight" line before shooting him. Made and supplied to the production by Italian fashion house Giorgio Armani this high quality double breasted two piece suit is constructed from silk and rayon in a light olive colour with grey lining. It features the Armani label to the interior with further clothing label to the inside pocket which has been hand inscribed 'M.K.' by the production in pen. The suit trousers show some signs of alteration to the waist with the interior band also hand inscribed 'M.K.' The suit is accompanied by a Gian Marco Venturi branded silk tie which was obtained by the production for use by Keaton and although it is of the same pattern and style is not the one worn in the final cut of the movie, the suit however can be screen matched to these scenes.

The costume remains in excellent screen used condition throughout with only light wear, very fine.

A rare and desirable example of principal character costume from this Academy Award winning superhero classic.
