Aliens

Private Crowe (Tip Tipping) USCM greaves

Sold

Description

An original costume element used in the production of Aliens, the second instalment in the popular Alien franchise directed by James Cameron.

These greaves form part of the armour worn by the United States Colonial Marines throughout the movie. Designed by James Cameron and fabricated by noted film armourer Terry English the armour has become a famous part of the Alien universe. This clamshell style leg armour was custom made for production by English for use by Tip Tipping as Private Crowe. Constructed in aluminium with knee sections hinged by riveted material to allow movement, padded with foam for the wearers comfort and with integral adjustable strap, the calf section is again hinged to allow the greaves to be taken on and off and features a leather strip to one side, the armour lacks the adjustable straps used to tighten them but retains the housing where this was once attached. Both parts retain the original knee padding, straps and leather to the side of the clamshell and are each inscribed with Tip Tipping's in marker pen to the interior.

The leg armour measures approximately 18" long and remains in very good production used condition with some minor paint loss, at one time repainted for another production this gold paint was subsequently removed thus returning them to their Aliens configuration.

A rare and desirable example of original Colonial Marine armour which seldom comes to market.
