Dropship fuelling rig miniature
An original miniature used in the production of Aliens, the second instalment in the popular Alien franchise directed by James Cameron.
This fuelling rig formed part of the Sulaco Dropship bay miniature set which was built at 1:12 scale of the full size Pinewood Studios set. Constructed from plastic sheeting the hand made prop features black metal springs to simulate pipework and is dressed with wire, kit parts and decals. The miniature hinges at the elbow allowing it to be posed in the required position and features various holes and brackets to the top where it was attached to the set. An insert shot of the Dropship fuelling via one of these systems is referenced in production storyboard FX86/87 (shown here, not included), this close up does not appear in the movie but these fuelling rigs can be seen prominently on the set around the Dropship.
The miniature measures approximately 15" long with the arm extending 11" and remains in excellent production used condition with some wear and minor missing parts, generally fine.
A highly displayable and detailed miniature artefact from this science fiction classic which won the 1986 Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
