Description

An original clapperboard used in the production of Agatha Christie's Poirot,  the long running mystery drama series starring David Suchet.

This production used traditional style black wooden clapperboard with hinged clap stick bears the movie title 'POIROT' on applied etched plastic in addition to the names of director Renny Rye and director of photographer Peter Jessop in the same fashion. The clapperboard has spaces where the slate number, take number and date could be marked for reference during filming and also features a further piece of applied plastic etched 'PICTURE PARTNERSHIP', one of the numerous production companies involved with the series. Although Renny Rye is credited with directing later episodes it is believed that this clapperboard was used solely on the first series as Jessop is only credited as director of photography on the following five episodes, all of which were directed by Rye.

  • The Adventure of Johnnie Waverly
  • Four and Twenty Blackbirds
  • Triangle at Rhodes
  • Problem at Sea
  • The King of Clubs

The clapperboard measures approximately 15" x 14" and remains in excellent condition with some edge and surface wear from use during the production, two small holes have been drilled either side of the series title, overall fine.

An excellent example of the iconic clapperboard from this award winning television series.
